Kopia

September 15, 2008

klmp304Since autumn 2006, elusive producer Kopia has been posting edits, remixes and original material on his blog, Eenmateriaal. While irregular in frequency, the posts have been remarkably regular in quality. High quality. Over the last years, Kopia has blended pop melodies and techno beats with unquestionable touch to music that is the essence of what we love at Kitty Litter Mp3: A bit awkward to dance to but impossible to sit still to. Today, we are proud to release two brand new Kopia tracks, “84 to 110” and “Circles“. The tracks were composed with a common artistic intention: using programmed and live recorded sounds to merge the accuracy of programming and the slight skewness of live takes into a complete whole. During the recordings, Kopia went through some difficult times, a circumstance that may have contributed to these track’s having less of the signature Kopia pop feel and more of wonderfully hypnotic monotony.

Mr. Suitcase

May 30, 2008

klmp303This past winter, Mr. Suitcase began putting together what he’d planned to be a mixtape for his friends. But instead of just mixing songs in a set, He suddenly found him self weaving the tracks together, inspired by collage aesthetics and ambient pop. He began adding new elements where he thought the originals were lacking. People began dropping by the studio to record vocals and instruments over the loops and fragments he’d extracted and, well… Soon enough, the result had become more than just the generic mixtape.

Frauds” is neither mixtape nor album. It’s neither remix nor mash-up. It’s something in between. “Frauds” is built from elements ranging from Prince to Nicolas Makelberge, from Ashanti to Zongamin, layered with field recordings and finalized by the recordings in Roth Händle Studio where the album… Sorry, the fraud was completed.

Frauds” features guest appearances by Mattias Olsson, Henric Larsson, Christian Fernandes, Gösta Fråd and Gryqllo.

Cover art and design by Azin Ashourvan (azin.se).

Unarmed Enemies

March 4, 2008

klmp302In simple words, this is an astonishing track. Between the beautiful bass line, the plucking arps and the elegant vocoders, “On Track” is one of the best pop song we’ve heard in 2008 and we are very happy to release it here on Kitty Litter. Unarmed Enemies first appeared with their melody driven electronics in fall 2005. The Stockholm band then began releasing songs like “Missing Out” and “Hustler’s Recharged”, songs that immediately caught you and wouldn’t let go. Mr.Suitcase’s remix of the latter found its way onto dance floors and Le Sport’s remix of “Show Me Your Plans” became the sunset anthem of every road trip taken and not taken. Then, after their self-titled debut EP on Songs I Wish I’d Written, we thought it was over. But it wasn’t. Unarmed Enemies had never left, they were perfecting their method. They always were a guarantee for smart and glittering pop and although “On Track” reveals they have taken a new direction, that same touch is still there. Once again, the Enemies handed the song over to Mr.Suitcase for him to do his take. We hope to hear more from where this is coming from sooner than later!

Alvy Singer

January 27, 2008

klmp301In “Annie Hall”, character Alvy Singer is obsessed by death. Real life Alvy Singer isn’t like that. On the contrary, he is about life. He is about squeezing a few more hours out of every night, about nocturnal taxi rides to the next dance floor, about having a laugh and getting away with it. The elusive producer appeared in 2007 with a blasting bootleg remix of The Tough Alliance, a track later posted by TTA themselves on their website. He also made a name for himself with the lustre “Sommarsång för Kalle J”, a celebration of friendship. For the first release in the Kitty Litter MP3 series, Alvy Singer has contributed with two new modern pop tracks, both bearing his up-beat insignia: the epic “Kungsholmen” which lends title and atmosphere from Stockholm’s most beautiful streets and another Tough Alliance remix - this time around officially approved. Alvy Singer in “Annie Hall” wrote a drama about failed love. Alvy Singer writes songs that is nothing but true love.
